Anyone here ever notice that one doesn't feel like having sex on antidepressants? I wonder if its because the sex drive is part of the sickness and gets cured or because of side effects?

ask your doc whether you could reduce the dose. i'm not a believer in anti depressants. they should be used rarely and only to tide over a situation.

Actually for a girl its true too ... not the erection part .. but getting aroused in general. I tried them for a little while and yeah, my boyfriend was getting frustrated so I stopped taking them.

ELVIS NUT SAYS:
that is not totally true, i have been on an antidepessant for about 5 years now and have never had any problems. Yes alot of the antidepressants have that side effect, but the people that I know that take Lexapro don't have any problems. Ask your doctor if there are other alternitives. Good luck.

It depends on the antidepressant, I think. Some have stronger "sexual side effects" than others. Talking to your doctor is a good idea -- a different medication may help. Even a generic version of the same drug may have slightly different side effects (I experienced that with a medication I was on -- the side effects seemed worse with the name brand than with the generic!)
