I don't think it's important to tell the new person in your life about all your past relationships. If it's all over, what's the point in talking about it, right?

It really depends on the person and relationship I think. A guy I dated a while ago was the jealous type. You couldn't tell him anything! I've met others who seem to revel in knowing every detail and it brings them closer.

Well I am a true believer of what was done in the past stays in the past, because just when you feel that you can trust a person and let it all out that's when the troubles all begin. And the lord only knows how some things that we discuss with other people can hurt when it's thown back in your face.

Cez2 is right, it just depends on the relationship. I don't think a healthy relationship can be built in dishonesty, but that doesn't mean you have to go over every little detail. Let things come out when they will, if it's part of the conversation feel free to share relevant tidbits. Don't be secretive but don't feel obligated to Info-Dump either. Your companion won't appreciate being overloaded.
