I always shudder away from the friend-suggested date... they've never gone well. "Oh, you'd like so-and-so" are words that make me run! As much as I love my friends, they're not very good matchmakers.
I only found shallow sorts of relationships in bars... too hard to get to know someone in a crowded room with the band blasting, so they were more based on looks than personality. :P
I feel like relationships started online have been the strongest for me... because so much time is spent getting to know the person before I ever meet them in person. But then... I'm a writer so words/communication are very important to me!
