I spend many years totally alone, and it was tough. I began to think it would never work out - and along comes this woman from nowhere who said I'm exactly what she was looking for.

I'd say they happen when you stop killing yourself trying. The desperation shines through, you know. A woman can smell desperation the way a dog smells fear. I really mean that. And vice versa too. Can we not trust ourselves more? And maybe God too? We waste so much energy and genuineness being on the make all the time....
