More likely it is because of insecurity. We see the person we love enjoying spending time with someone other than us,and we wonder if we're in danger of losing that person.We begin to doubt our own worth and the stability of our relationship,and that is usually where real trouble starts.

everybody is jelous in a way. its just that if ur b/f or g/f is keeping somthing from u or u keeping something from them then it causes that vibe and people tend to become jelous.
