Romantic Gift Ideas For A Birthday

Birthday
If you are the kind of person who sets up reminders on your calendar, you probably find that birthdays are always popping up. While it is simple to pick out a bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine for someone who is "just an acquaintance," it is our good friends, partners, parents and other loved ones for whom we spend many hours racking our brains and scouring the Internet to find that perfect gift. Not any more!

Gadgets Galore
Everyone loves something electronic. It could be an electronic kitchen scale or a fancy cell-phone-with-calculator-and-organizer. Whatever your budget, whoever the recipient, you can find something in the electronics section-the smaller, the better. CD players are passe, MP3 players and iPods are the current favorites, and both require accessories and repeated purchases. If you gave your nephew that sleek music player last year, maybe you could supplement it this year with a subscription to a music download website or a snazzy new "skin" for the player?

Personalized Presents
Yes, we all like to have our names on things. Most websites will give you an opportunity to add a monogram or personalize your gift in some way. You could get Dad a t-shirt with a photo of the grandkids, or Mom could receive a bracelet with the initials of you and each of your siblings; your sister (who loves to entertain) would love to have a set of monogrammed wine glasses or wine charms so she can impress her guests. The list goes on...a music box with a special message in the lid, a set of pretty stationery and envelopes with the recipient's name and address in place, monogrammed cufflinks (or boxers for your sweetie?), a locket that hides a photograph...be creative and watch your friends and loved ones beam with pleasure.

Precious Stuff
Jewelry is always a nice gift. Women love necklaces, bracelets, and earrings (and if you really want to make your girlfriend happy on her birthday, how better to do it than give her that diamond ring and pop the question?) If the birthday girl has a plentiful collection of jewelry, consider giving her something to keep it in: a leather organizer or a wooden necklace armoire. Who says men don't dig jewelry? While it may not be difficult to shop for that friend who wears studs and has a pierced eyebrow, the well-groomed executive would require considerable contemplation. You can get him a set of special cufflinks and a tie pin to match, or an elegant gold watch, or, how about a diamond-encrusted pen for signing those big mergers?
Who says you have to stick to the usual? Be creative: plan a weekend getaway or throw a birthday bash in an exotic location. Take the entire family and let the birthday boy or girl enjoy good food, great locales and exceptional friends and family. After all, a birthday comes only once a year.
