1. Take a hike! |
| Zilker Path |
Have you ever broken out in a sweat while you were enjoying a date? Well, there is always a first! A hike through the sweeping, picturesque trails at the Zilker Nature Preserve, or along Waller Creek that runs through Waterloo Park, guarantees to get the blood pumping. You and your love can opt to bird watch at the Preserve or cool down beneath the ample tree cover at Waterloo.
St. Edwards Park, along Bull Creek, is lesser known and could afford you more retreat. If your romance follows the dictum, "love me, love my dog," Lassie can tag along. However, do check each preserve's "leash etiquette."

2. In Too Deep? |
| Canoe at Town Lake |
It is difficult to think of Austin and not imagine spending quality time with your sweet, paddling a boat in the quiet sanctuary of Town Lake. You can take along a picnic basket, or even fishing gear, provided you don't move your focus from the true "catch of the day!" Barton Creek beckons with its promise of a relaxing boat ride. However, you might need to pack a few essentials-especially a life jacket-and some clear thinking to remain safe on the water. It is just like a first date…make the wrong move and you could get dunked!

3. Hee-Haw! |
| Texas State Fair Rodeo |
Nothing will get the adrenaline pumping as much as the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo. Come March, every year, Travis County comes alive with two weeks of heart pumping reality shows. Men in Stetsons put their skills to the test in riveting competitions. From Bareback Riding to Steer Wrestling, the drama of man against beast brings many a spectator to the edge of his seat. Star-studded concerts, carnivals, rides, and livestock shows bring in thousands of dollars that go toward scholarships for deserving Texan youth, so saddle up! If you miss taking your date down for the festivities and you could end up looking like the rodeo clown.

3. Get the Bigger Picture |
| Famous Dobie Theare |
If you have a thing for beauty, the Dobie Theater is a feast for the eyes. With four different kinds of art deco themes- Egyptian, Space Age, Gargoyle Gothic, and French Tudor, it's no wonder that the 2004 Austin Chronicle christened it "Best Place to Find a Lover!"
Take your not-so-romantic mate (whose idea of romance is a TV dinner), to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas. The food and drink (including beer) make their way to your seat, making one feel right at home.

4. Botanical Gardens |
| Zilker Botanical Garden |
Spend a day together at the Zilker Botanical Gardens and experience what many other couples have felt before - awe at Nature's grandeur and the magnetism of natural beauty.
Walk along the banks of the Colorado River as you explore this sprawling garden comprised of eight themed mini-gardens. Take a stroll over the Bridge to Walk over the Moon, then sip tea and nibble sandwiches at the Japanese Teahouse in the Oriental Garden. Then head for the pavilion for a wide-angle view of downtown and the Austin skyline.

5. Relax & Rejuvenate |
| Lakeway Resort |
Imagine getting a massage together while sipping fruit nectar and looking at a placid lake with greenery all around. This is one ideal way to spend a day, a week, or a lifetime (you wish!).
The Lakeway Resport and Spa has much to offer couples - rooms and views to suit varied budgets, recreation and sports centers for the fitness lovers and access to the lake and surrounding greenery for outdoor enthusiasts. There is a golf course, swimming pool, and facilities for sailing, boating, fishing, or jet skiing when you are not enjoying the benefits of their spa.
