Harborfest is one of the most important festivals held in Boston. Extended from a three days to a weeklong. the Harborfest celebration has over two hundred activities. In 2006. the Silver Jubilee Year. a special seven-day celebration was held. beginning on the 4th of July. The colonial and maritime heritage of Boston. the place where the American Revolution began. is showcased during the celebration. Once a local occasion. the Fest has now gained the status of a national event.
