A huge fire destroyed the city in 1886 and it was built back to retain much of the old beauty, but with better planning. The 14 ft. copper statue of "Gassy Jack," known for his verbal abilities, is worth a look. This is one of the heritage sites of Vancouver. The Gastown Steam Clock still keeps excellent time.
