The Long-Distance Relationship Guide
""
Book By: Caroline Tiger

Good things come in small packages. If you are one of the seven million Americans who are in a long-distance relationship, or a potential one, this little guide might be the right pick for you. The title thrives on "till distance do us apart" syndrome, as Caroline Tiger has taken tremendous effort to explore long-distance relationships and avoid probable break-ups. Derived from personal experiences and mental notes, the book is a clever guide to sustain that intimacy between such couples. It has several tips on how to cope with the problems arising due to the distance like communication lapses and physical incommunicado. Besides the basic theories of a long-distance relationship, there is a whole list of creative and witty tips -exchanging lovey-dovey letters, planning regular visits, phone sex (don't rush to that page first), optimum usage of technology, like e-mail, web-cam telephony etc. The advice is funny and quirky, but quite practical.

Now for the flipside: the author has adapted a fairly mechanical approach in suggesting some solutions, such as, how often to call, a ready-made script that reads like an elocution piece for the quieter partner, what songs to listen to, and which film to watch while traveling...quite a robotic method!

However, though it is not like THE book for a long-distance relationship, it does consist of several well researched and well written solutions, by drawing actual cases from the lives of military and truck drivers' wives. Unlike the sermonic self-help books, this guide adopts a realistic view, peppered with several real-life anecdotes, interesting quizzes, professional advice from experts, and statistics. There is, of course, no guarantee about the success, but the author has also advised on how to handle a long-distance break-up. Smart, funny, and realistic describe the little book, in short. It is a great read for stressed couples who are striving to continue. At least it assures you how to maximize the romance in the relationship and make the most of it.
