Honolulu's combination of year-round sunshine, beaches, blue seas, and rich cultural heritage makes it the perfect place to spend a romantic holiday.

Honolulu is located on the island of Oahu, the third largest of the Hawaiian island chain. Hawaii, of course, is the romantic holiday capital of the world - its very geography begs visitors to fall in love. White beaches, blue seas, and perpetually sunny weather have made these islands the top holiday destination in the country.

Honolulu's one beach, Ala Moana, is where all the events take place. Here you have everything from boating to sports competitions. Outside of Honolulu, there is Waikiki, where you can indulge in water sports, diving, swimming, or sunbathing on the beach. You can spend a day experiencing and learning from the history of Honolulu - 'Iolani Palace, the Kamehameha Statue, and Kawaiaha'o Church are all located in downtown Honolulu and are definitely worth visiting. To the east of these sites lies Chinatown, where one can visit the Kuan Yin Temple, or browse through the art galleries of Nu'uanu.

Visit the Hawaii Maritime Center for information and background on Hawaii. The most important museum in Hawaii would be the Bishop Museum, which has a great collection of anthropological exhibits and archaeological relics. There is also the Queen Emma Summer Palace on Pali Highway, which was once a holiday spot for the royal family of Hawaii. The Foster Botanical Garden is a must-see place for those who love all things green - here you can have a look at rare plant species in their native habitat. You can take a cruise in the placid waters at sunset, drink truly exotic cocktails, and hold hands with your loved one as you watch day end and the sky turn various shades of orange and red. Stay to watch the stars pop out one by one, all the while listening to traditional Hawaiian music.

Take time to visit the other attractions of Oahu as well. For great surfing and better sunbathing, head out on the H1 highway to Hanauma Bay, where your you and your partner can also experience exciting snorkeling - enjoy the sensation of seeing the world from the fish's viewpoint. Pineapples are farmed on the northern shore of Oahu, where you can visit Waialua and Hale'iwa. Hale'iwa is another well-known destination for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. There are stalls along the Kamehameha Highway to buy fresh fruit, which you can enjoy on the beaches, known for the big waves and resident turtles.

Honolulu's rich and varied attractions give romantic couples like you plenty of reasons to spend their time lazing around under the sun, or packing in the days with all kinds of activities. Honolulu inspires romance, even in the most hardened heart.
