Romance succeeds best when nature provides the props. Take the Caribbean Islands as a case in point. The weather is what romance ordered - idyllic and addictive. Prime time is between April and December. In early August, there are Reggae fests, with amazing music from local talent.

Food here is tropically delicious and the fare combines pineapples, mangoes, and seafood in many exotic combinations. Restaurants and bakeries have their own special creations to offer and refreshing coconuts can be bought anywhere for a few "Jays," or Jamaican dollars.

Beaches abound. For a fee, you can enjoy the private resort and hotel beaches. They are often better than the public beaches for peaceful enjoyment of sun and sand. Beware that you do not give the impression that you have just come off a cruise ship! You might end up like some tourists, who have had very unpleasant experiences with local hustlers hounding them to buy their wares. The trick is to play the seasoned tourist and keep to the more populated Gloucester Avenue for eating, shopping, or clubbing. Venturing downtown should be on an as-needed basis only.
