New York City is one place where walking will get you everywhere. Many associate the Big Apple with high finance, business, and the serious things in life, but this multi-cultural melting pot has much to offer two people in love.


Once you have completed the usual touristy itinerary of the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State Building, Guggenheim Museum, Times Square, and Central Park, use the rest of your time here for the unexpected and opportunities for romance. You will interact with people of more nationalities here than you could expect to meet at a United Nations convention. Each borough has its own character and flavor and offers its own brand of shops, stores, restaurants, and nightlife.

Cozy coffee shops squeezed in between massive buildings may not look too appealing, but their fresh doughnuts and coffee will make for a welcome break during your walking tour. Of course, you will need to use the subways and bus services, and when you step out for that special dinner, be sure to grab a cab.

Shopping is abundant and can match any budget, so make sure you have some other distractions planned for your ladylove, or else be prepared to carry bags all over town. Quaint town homes share space with gleaming towers of glass, there are sudden gardens and parks providing respite from the concrete jungle. Be sure to sample some of the street fare, because you will never taste such food anywhere else.

Restaurants, bars, and lounges abound. Watch the city let down its hair and unravel at sultry hotspots on weekend nights. Two places that change their looks from day to evening are Central Park and Times Square, so be prepared to make a second trip. Central Park becomes a calm oasis for stargazing (or looking deep into each other's eyes), while Times Square lights up with a million lights and more opportunities to have fun. At the end of your trip, re-visit the Empire State Building to shout from the rooftops and declare your love for each other.
