Over the years, Palm Springs has been a favorite haunt of the rich and famous people, who come here for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. Some have even chosen to stay on. You may bump into a few people you recognize!

Palm Springs, in the Coachella Valley, has a history dating back a thousand years. The first to arrive in this area were the Agua Caliente band of Cahuilla Indians. They settled here first, after realizing the healing powers of the mineral springs. Later on, settlers from the north started coming here for the warm desert climate and the mineral springs. They brought date palms and started date farms in the southern part of the valley. Palm Springs is now one of the largest producers and exporters of dates. There was no looking back for Palm Springs after that, its rise to stardom was just a matter of time.

Palm Canyon Drive
Palm Canyon Drive
Hollywood stars of yesteryear found in Palm Springs the ideal retreat, not just for relaxation and rejuvenation, but also for seclusion and a bit of time out from the public glare. An afternoon stroll along Palm Canyon Drive gives you a perspective on the Hollywood influence in Palm Springs. You can see more than 250 stars embedded in the sidewalks here. The names include Frank Sinatra, Clark Gable, Bob Hope, Shirley Temple, Buddy Rogers, Mary Pickford, Ginger Rogers, and Gene Autry. Stars started coming here in the 1920's and all the big names were here at one time or other.

Palm Springs underwent another great transformation in the middle of the last century - it got a facelift. The best architects from around the world produced some of their best works in Palm Springs. It even got a name - Palm Springs modernism! They built elegantly informal one-story buildings and used innovative techniques, like glass walls, so as not to block out the view of nature. These buildings blend well with the surroundings and still warrant your admiration.

Enjoy a great romantic vacation without any of the hassles of overseas travel. Go back to the world recharged, knowing that you can always come back for more any time of the year. Except of the hottest days of summer, the climate in Palm Springs is very pleasant, with warm days and cool evenings.
