Once your appetite has been satisfied, then you and your partner can head to a day spa for a truly relaxing sojourn. Most spas have successfully absorbed the surrounding Native American influences and incorporated them into the spa treatments and the general ambience of these resorts. Among the best spas in Phoenix are Aji Spa at the Sheraton, Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, and the Alvadora at the Royal Palms Resort & Spa.

The Aji Spa is located on the grounds of the Gila River Indian Community and is filled with great attention to detail. The Native American style shows in the architecture of the building. One of the most popular treatments at the Aji Spa is the Blue Coyote Wrap. It begins with an exfoliation and ends with a cedar oil massage. The Alvadora Spa is Mediterranean in its atmosphere. Here, the herbs, flowers, and oils all have a European flavor. The Orange Flower Body Buff is a very popular treatment.

3. Native American Art & Historical Tours
Pueblo Grande
Pueblo Grande
For those with a passion for history and archaeology, take a tour through Pueblo Grande - the ruins of a Native American village. These relics of a once-great race tell a myriad of stories. The many activities and workshops offered, as well as hikes throughout the surrounding areas, make this destination a truly magical experience.

Besides Pueblo Grande, which lies on the outskirts of Phoenix, another great showcase of Native American Art is the Heard Museum. With its acclaimed collection of Native American art and artefacts, it is a journey into the past of Arizona. It is a great way to learn about the culture of the indigenous people of Arizona. Together with your partner, take in the huge "Native People of the Southwest" exhibit that displays a Navajo Hogan, as well a Hopi corn grinder. The beautiful Kachina doll gallery allows visitors to admire the number of different Kachina spirits that dominate the Hopi and Zuni religions.

The first weekend in March, you can experience the traditional dances, arts, and crafts during the Indian Fair and Market. There are a few artists' communities located within an hour's drive from Phoenix. The communities of Carefree and Cave Creek are very popular western attractions. Stop by the Deer Valley Rock Art Center to see the petroglyphs. The site of Arizona's first known civilization is an hour's drive from the south side of Phoenix. Casa Grande Ruins National Monument is a magnificent testament to the endurance of the Hohokam, who first established agricultural practices here a thousand years ago.
